Everything that I said about Sevilla only more. The people are extremely friendly and after a short time, you will have many friends. However, it is not like Sevilla with 100's of interesting places. Puerto De Santa Maria is quite a bit smaller in comparison to Sevilla and only has a few interesting places, but in the summer time, the beaches makeup for the differences and the Plaza de Torro is magnificent. This is one of the best sites to get information about Puerto De Santa Maria. History of the beautiful town can be found at this site. When you get to Puerto, stop by Delegación Municipal de Turismo, Guadalete, 1 -bajo- Tlfno. (34) (56) 542413 - Tlfax. (34) (56) 542246, 11500 El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz). It is within a block of the park and the Bar Santa Maria. They are extremely helpful. They have maps and brochures of events, hotels and etc... The picture above with out the two banners was given to us at their office and we now have it framed and hanging in our living room. |

| The feria was a lot more fun than Sevilla's feria, please remember, we come from Puerto De Santa Maria. Every caseta, I believe, was open to everyone and we spent 5 days at the feria trying to go to each caseta there. Each morning we would get home around 3:00 AM, and we were the ones leaving the feria early. |
| And of course, one of the things I like best in Spain is having churros and coffee in the morning. Not only did we enjoy churros and coffee prior to leaving the feria each morning, Carmen and I would get up and walk to the town market each morning and enjoy churros and coffee at a local bar we have been going to for the past 38 years. | has had her churro business in the market for over 30 years. We first started buying fresh fried potato chips from her in the park during the early 60's. From churros and coffee, we would go shopping at the local stores or walk to someone home or the beach. You can take a bus to anywhere in Puerto for about 65 cents. Spain has real good bus transportation in the towns and cities. A car is a pain-in-the-neck, you have trouble finding a parking space. A saying in Spain is "Buy your parking place, then buy a car." You can take public transportation almost anywhere from Puerto. The railroad has an excellent schedule and it is easy to get to Sevilla and Madrid from Puerto. A picture of the train station and two nice hotel in the center of town for your stay in Puerto De Santa Maria follows. Clicking on either hotel will take you to their web page. |

| I can only said what I have said before, if you have not had a vacation here, start saving your money for a ticket now. We would highly recommend SpanAir for both prices and service as our choices of Air Lines. It is wonderful place for a vacation and very nice place to live, although there are not many jobs in Puerto. It is extremely difficult to find employment and a position at McDonalds is highly sought after. "So! Don't Sell The Farm" unless you have a steady flow of income, do not decide to move to Spain and go to work, in most cases, one will not be able to find employment. If you are one of the luck ones who get stationed in Spain by military or a company transfer you to Spain, you will have the best of two worlds. |
| The feria was lay out as the picture, quite a bit smaller than 1000 plus casetas at Sevilla. |
|
|
| Their attendance was over 125,000 for the five days or about 15,000 to 25,000 people every day. What is remarkable, during our five days at the feria, we saw nor hear of any civil unrest. No fights, no screams except in joy. Of course, a good percent of the people dressed up in their flamenco attire. |
